Knitting Yarn Ornament

A knitting yarn glass ornament says more about a person than most gifts do: wound yarn, a pair of needles, and a project that has been going since October. It belongs to the knitter working through a scarf on the couch every night in December, one row at a time. Hang it on the tree, on a craft-room garland, or on a gift bag of good wool.

Perfect for: knitters, craft circle swaps, grandmother gifts, stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, and teacher gifts.

Old World Christmas glass ornaments are mouth-blown into a carved mold, hand-painted, and glittered, in a tradition that began in the 1800s. This one hangs from a standard hook and is light enough to sit on an outer branch where the shape shows. It is a small acknowledgment of a long and patient project, which is exactly what most knitters want to receive.

Hang it with the other hobby pieces for a maker’s tree, then browse more unique Christmas ornaments.
